SUMMARY
The Payroll Tax Supervisor is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely and compliant payroll tax payments and filings for over 15 legal entities throughout the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada. This role is responsible for supervising a team of two Payroll Tax Specialists and three Analysts in the U.S. as well as a supporting team located in India. This position assists with updates and testing for multiple POS systems and reviewing and completing quarterly and annual filings including W2 and T4 preparation. TrueBlue and its entities issue approximately 300,000 W-2’s annually that the payroll tax team is responsible for preparing and issuing timely.

This position will also propose policy changes in response to changing regulatory tax updates. The position is responsible for daily workloads, training and development of Payroll Tax Team, providing regular feedback and coaching.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coaches, mentors, evaluates, and trains direct reports
• Research and document new payroll tax laws and regulations and provides management with compliance recommendations.
• Preparation and review of quarterly 941 forms and annual 940 filings
• Partner with the Payroll Tax Manager, and international partners to improve, streamline, and document payroll tax processes.
• Ensure timely completion and review of daily payments prior to submitting to GL
• Weekly/Quarterly audits to ensure accuracy of multiple payroll systems and employee tax set up
• Review tax filings and associated documentation created by payroll tax staff for the payment of taxes on behalf of TrueBlue Inc. permanent and temporary employees.
• Utilize analytical skills to document and resolve outstanding issues, prepare reports and forms necessary for management and external agencies, and maintains payroll tax team’s compliance with SOX audits and controls.
• In-depth knowledge of payroll tax processing, general payroll policy, government regulations and payroll tax requirements for US, Puerto Rico and Canada.
• Manage resolution of customer service tickets, and notices from agencies including Federal, Canada and Puerto Rico
• Prepare and update Knowledge Articles, and provide excellent customer service support to employees, leaders, and internal teams
• Assist in special projects such as W2 preparation, software conversions, year end communication planning, and implementations.
• Works with leadership to track and support team priorities, goals and development for the team
• Create, and update project plans and test plans


QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, and 5-7 years payroll tax experience in a Supervisor; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint.
• Knowledge of SQL to run and change queries
• Excellent attention to detail, time management, and technical competence
• Proven analytical, problem solving and influencing skills in high-volume, and fast paced environments.
• Well-rounded experience in coaching, evaluating, and mentoring others in the workplace.
• Strong process enhancement, training and documentation experience.
• Experience in preparing and amending federal, state and local tax returns.
• Interprets complex regulatory guidelines and law for new and changing legislation.
• Knowledge of international taxes, including Canada and Puerto Rico.
• Related experience in a multi-unit organization.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently, and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Ability to effectively interact and build relationships with a diverse employee population.
• Experience with accounting software systems and internet usage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Innovation/Renovation-willingness to change and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and assignments.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and assign workloads.
• Desire to work in a collaborative team environment.
• 5+ expert knowledge of multistate, and international payroll tax compliance
• MasterTax, ERP, and CPP Preferred
